Jewelry TVC Project: Chameleon Collection by MW Jewelry

Rate this post

MW Jewelry (MWJ) chose Right Media to produce a TV commercial for its "Chameleon" collection – inspired by the chameleon that changes color according to its environment, just like the modern woman who always fulfills her role whether at home, at work, or at events. The brand proudly presents its 100% collection, made in Vietnam, from design and craftsmanship to filming and editing. This article analyzes how the TV commercial tells the story of handcrafted jewelry.

Customer requirements

With high-end jewelry, value lies not only in the final piece but also in the craftsmanship that made it. MWJ wanted the TV commercial to showcase the entire journey of the Chameleon collection, made in Vietnam – the message “100% made in Vietnam” that the brand emphasizes.

At the same time, the TV commercial must maintain the luxurious feel of a jewelry brand, rather than resembling a production process video.

Right Media's solution for jewelry TV commercials.

Right Media shot the TV commercial in a dark studio space, with a turquoise backdrop that matched MWJ's brand colors. The lighting was narrow, focusing on the craftsman's hands and the jewelry, allowing all other details to fade into shadow.

1. Start with the drawing.

The TV commercial opens with the designer in a suit sketching designs on paper, coloring each detail with a small brush. The image of ink smudging in water evokes the "chameleon changing color" concept of the collection.

2. Each stage is handcrafted.

The central section features close-ups of the artisan's hands: filing, grinding, polishing, assembling small details with tweezers, attaching stones, working on a block of red wax, and examining details under a microscope. The macro shots show the viewer a level of meticulousness that is difficult for the naked eye to perceive.

3. The finished product and the wearer

The TV commercial concludes with finished pendant designs displayed on a black pedestal, on a turquoise bust, and finally, a female model selecting jewelry – perfectly embodying the image of the modern woman that the collection aims to portray.

What story should a jewelry TV commercial tell?

The most compelling jewelry TV commercials tell a story about craftsmanship and origin, as that's why customers are willing to pay a premium price. The Chameleon TV commercial goes through four layers of information:

  • Idea – Inspired by the chameleon's color-changing abilities and the image of a woman in multiple roles.
  • Design – A meticulously colored, hand-drawn sketch.
  • Craftsmanship – Close-up shots of the manual processes.
  • finished product – A piece of jewelry worn by the person, bearing the message 100% made in Vietnam.

Results achieved

MWJ has a nearly two-and-a-half-minute TV commercial for its Chameleon collection, chronicling the entire journey from concept and design to crafting and finished product in a minimalist, elegant visual language. The video features bilingual Vietnamese-English descriptions, making it accessible to both domestic and international customers.
