In the increasingly fierce competition of the F&B industry, your brand needs to establish its own unique identity. However, this is not easy, as it involves many factors. Beyond just advertising through posts and billboards, investing in TV commercials is now a priority for businesses. House Food is no exception. Let's analyze the House Food Japanese curry TV commercial we produced – a captivating visual and auditory feast.

The TV commercial for House Food, a Japanese curry restaurant, was produced by Right Media.

Client's request: Japanese identity and the fusion of Vietnamese cuisine.

House Food House Foods is a long-established and reputable food brand in Japan, best known for its convenient curry paste cubes. Upon entering the Vietnamese market, House Foods aims to deliver a strong message: Japanese curry is incredibly diverse, easy to combine with other dishes, and suits the tastes of every member of the Vietnamese family.

Specifically, the challenges and requirements for the creative team include:

  • Eliminate the misconception about monotony: For Vietnamese people, curry is usually served with rice or traditional bread. House Foods' challenge was to demonstrate "1001 ways to enjoy Japanese curry" in less than a minute.
  • Experience the ultimate taste sensation through the screen: How can we make each slice of breaded fried meat, each strand of noodle, each glistening drizzle of curry sauce appear vivid, realistic, and instantly awaken the audience's appetite?
  • Maintain the brand spirit: The TV commercial needs to exude the sophistication, warmth, refinement, and meticulousness inherent in the Japanese lifestyle, while also creating a sense of closeness and familiarity with Vietnamese consumers.

Right Media's solution: The perfect combination of food styling and modern visual language.

Having received a challenging brief from House Foods, Right Media quickly launched consumer behavior research and applied a formula. "4 Right" to provide optimal solutions:

Professional food styling and a diverse menu.

Right Media believes that the key to a successful food commercial lies in the authenticity of the dish. We didn't just film a simple curry rice dish. Instead, a colorful "culinary universe" was presented:

  • Curry rice Traditionally, it features a thick, creamy sauce with diced potatoes and carrots.
  • Curry sandwich Deep-fried until golden brown and crispy, when broken in half, the fragrant sauce filling inside is clearly visible.
  • Curry Udon Noodles Tender and chewy texture combined with breaded pork cutlet (Tonkatsu).
  • Curry Ramen A unique dish featuring char siu pork and soft-boiled eggs, a true Japanese culinary experience.

Each dish is meticulously prepared, from the vibrant colors of the vegetables used for garnish and the smooth consistency of the sauce to the warm, steaming vapor rising from it, creating a lavish feast that stimulates all the senses.

Filming techniques and flexible camera angles.

To enhance viewer engagement, Right Media utilized close-up and ultra-close-up shots combined with smooth camera movements.

  • Sauce pouring scene: The rich, golden-brown curry sauce is drizzled evenly over the crispy, golden-brown fried meat, creating a visually stunning effect of movement.
  • Scene for enjoyment: The way the noodles are picked up drags along with the sauce, or the moment a character bites into a crispy piece of bread creates a vivid sound. The combination of high frame rates perfectly captures the most precious moments of the dish.

Connecting emotionally through the characters' real-life experiences.

Avoiding contrived settings, Right Media recreates glimpses of everyday life through the authentic expressions of actors of various ages. From energetic young people enjoying udon noodles, to a young man enthralled by a convenient Curry Pan, to a young woman savoring a hearty plate of Tonkatsu curry rice, their radiant smiles and happy eyes as they enjoy their food serve as the most natural emotional connection to the audience.

The TV commercial features images of characters enjoying delicious food.

Right Media's workflow in the House Foods project.

To complete a TV commercial project that meets international quality standards for a Japanese brand, Right Media applied a scientific 9-step workflow, ensuring meticulous attention to detail from the initial idea to the final product delivery:

Step 1: Receiving and researching the product: Understanding the core of the brand.

The Right Media team worked closely with House Foods Vietnam's representatives to understand the characteristics of the curry cubes, brand positioning, and the essential messages that needed to be conveyed.

Step 2: Develop a detailed storyboard: Visualizing ideas.

Conceptualizing "1001 ways to enjoy Japanese curry." Designing each frame, transition rhythm, and precise duration for each dish featured in the 50-second TV commercial.

Step 3: Food Styling and Prop Preparation: The art of food presentation.

Collaborating with professional culinary experts to test cooking recipes and food presentation under high-intensity studio lights ensures that the food remains fresh and glossy throughout the filming session.

Step 4: Pre-production at a professional studio: Practical photography.

Filming is conducted using a high-quality camera system, specialized lighting for food photography, and equipment to ensure smooth motion. This guarantees capturing every moment of drizzling sauce, biting into a pastry, or picking up noodles perfectly.

Step 5: In-depth post-production and color correction: Complete the artwork.

The editing is smooth and rhythmic, following the cheerful and energetic music. The color balance achieves a warm, vibrant, cinematic tone. The sound design is sophisticated, featuring crisp "crunches" and the "slurping" sound of noodles being pulled, and House Foods' contact information for purchasing is integrated at the end of the video.
The dish is beautifully presented with eye-catching colors.

Achievements: Partner satisfaction and public acceptance.

The meticulousness, professionalism, and tireless efforts of the Right Media team have yielded well-deserved results for this collaborative project:

  • Outstanding TV commercial product: The 50-second video meets broadcast quality standards for television and digital platforms. The sharp, detailed images of the food, the realistic sound, and the captivating background music create an overall visual experience that draws viewers in from the very first seconds.
  • Convey the message completely: The diversity of dishes is showcased brilliantly, helping to reshape consumer thinking about how to prepare and enjoy Japanese curry at home.
  • Confirming Right Media's capabilities: This project is a clear testament to Right Media's professional capabilities in working with multinational corporations that have extremely stringent technical standards. From production organization and time management to on-set risk management, everything was executed smoothly and completed on schedule.
