Cosmetics video review project: CKD x Right Media anti-aging product trio

CKD Vietnam is the exclusive distributor of a line of anti-aging cosmetics from South Korea. Right Media produced a series of three cosmetic review videos for CKD, one for each product: Retino Collagen Neck Cream, Retinol Collagen Pumping Ampoule Serum, and V-stretching Mask. All three share the same presenter, setting, and are released in a series.

Why did CKD choose video reviews instead of TV commercials?

All three products in this series belong to the anti-aging treatment category. The ingredients and technology are quite complex: small molecular collagen, next-generation retinol, and patented liposome technology.

Buyers of this product group need to understand the product thoroughly before making a decision. A 30-second TV commercial isn't enough space to explain why the neck, an area often neglected compared to the face, needs a separate product, or why third-generation retinol is gentler than its predecessors. video review of cosmetics Lasting a few minutes, the presenter can speak while demonstrating the product firsthand. This type of content belongs to the category... product video which Right Media produces for businesses.

The general structure of all three videos

To help viewers recognize that the three videos are part of the same series, Right Media created a common content framework, only changing the specific elements of each product.

  • Start by addressing the user's problem. – For example, the video about neck cream illustrates habits that accelerate neck aging: incorrect working posture, sleeping on your stomach, and frequently looking down at your phone.
  • Introducing the product and its ingredients. – State the correct names of the active ingredients and their uses. For example, the neck cream video clearly states that the product contains 73%, a 300 dalton small molecule collagen extract, and 200 ppm of next-generation retinol.
  • Close-up view of the packaging and texture. – the cream's consistency, the serum's texture, the color, and the capsule particles inside.
  • Actual usage instructions – How to dispense the product, the massage technique, and the order of application to each skin area. In the neck cream video, the presenter recounts how they initially fumbled with the tube, only to later demonstrate the correct method: gently squeeze, dispense the cream from the steel roller, and massage for 5 to 10 minutes daily.
  • Buy from an authorized retailer. – CKD Vietnam's website and fanpage.

Thanks to this framework, each video can be viewed separately and still be recognized as a complete set when placed side-by-side, which is convenient when CKD releases them sequentially according to the media schedule.

Three technical challenges when filming cosmetic review videos.

First, a close-up view of the product's structure. The thick cream consistency, the yellow collagen capsules in the serum, and the metallic sheen of the steel roller head are small details that create a premium feel. In the video, close-ups clearly show these textures without any glare.

Secondly, the skin color must be natural. With brightening and anti-aging products, excessive color correction will make the presenter's skin look unnatural and lose viewer trust. Therefore, the skin tone in the video is kept natural and neutral.

Third, the operation must be repeatable and identical. Massage movements aimed at lifting the neck and collarbone area, or the order in which serum is applied from the cheeks to the forehead, all need to be recorded in multiple shot sizes. The presenter must repeat the movements precisely so that the different shot sizes match during editing.

Filming location: a real home instead of a studio backdrop.

The entire series of videos was filmed in an apartment, with the living room and bedroom set up as filming locations.

The skincare products used were at home, as part of the morning and evening routine. Compared to a white background, the everyday setting was closer to the viewer's experience. In return, the crew had to bring their own lighting equipment and control the natural light coming through the windows, as the filming lasted all day while the sunlight outside changed constantly.

Where were the videos used?

Three cosmetic review videos explain the products to potential customers and then direct them to the official CKD Vietnam retailer. CKD's goal, as described in the serum video, is to increase product conversion rates. This type of content is sustainable: as long as the product is sold, the videos will continue to be used. Right Media also produces similar video formats for the consumer goods industry, such as... customer testimonial video and short videos for social media.

Second video: Retinol Collagen Pumping Ampoule serum

Following the neck cream video, CKD commissioned Right Media to create a serum video. The serum was introduced with three benefits: increased skin elasticity, anti-aging, and gentle skin brightening. Presenter Lam Phuong focused on the ingredients: collagen capsules, third-generation retinol, hyaluronic acid, elastin, and niacinamide, along with patented flexible liposome technology. The camera zoomed in on the yellow collagen capsules suspended in the serum, a detail difficult to see with the naked eye but a distinguishing feature of the product.

The video dedicates a few seconds to the eco-friendly paper packaging and the glass jar inside, a detail that resonates with users concerned about reducing plastic.

Third video: V-stretching face mask

The video about face masks focuses on the skin under the chin, an area often neglected, and targets "office ladies." The message is very specific: take advantage of your lunch break at work to get a slimmer, firmer chin; apply the mask for 20 to 40 minutes, then remove it. The presenter introduces the V-stretching mask with 3-step stretching technology, containing 5 types of hyaluronic acid and 5 types of peptides, along with Retinol Collagen 300 facial cleanser.

The video also shares a little tip: leave the mask in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes before applying it. Such practical details make the cosmetic review video sound more like advice from someone who has actually used the product than an advertisement.
