A single factory shoot can produce three versions of a video: a full version for strategic partners and internal communications, a recruitment version for candidates, and a company introduction for customers, importers, trade fairs, and websites. Right Media did just that for Far Eastern Polytex, a factory with over 2,000 employees in Binh Duong, and produced two to three versions for Tanaka Precision, Top Royal Flash, and CJ Foods. This article explains why three versions are necessary, what to keep and what to remove from each version, and what scenes a garment factory recruitment video should include to gain candidate trust.
Why should a film from a film studio be cut into three versions?
Because the three groups of viewers asked three different questions, and the most expensive part of the project was the filming, not the editing. Once the crew was at the factory with all the equipment, filming additional scenes of the dormitory, the kitchen, and interviewing staff only took a few extra hours. Editing a copy from existing footage was much cheaper than organizing a new filming session later.
The full Far Eastern Polytex factory film was released; recruitment videos and company introductions were also filmed during the same period. View project details.
- Customers, importers Questions: What does the factory produce, what is its production capacity, what is its quality control system, what certifications does it have, and who has it worked for?
- Candidates Questions include: What are the benefits of working here? Where is it located? How is transportation? Is there training provided? What do colleagues say?
- Viewers just skim through. At a trade show booth or on social media, you only have a few dozen seconds to a few minutes, so you need a concise version that answers the question "who is this company?"; the display at the booth can be cut to an additional 30–60 seconds without sound.
Far Eastern Polytex commissioned a video with exactly those three goals: showcasing capabilities, discussing company culture, and supporting recruitment. Right Media produced a full 8-minute 08-second video, then added a recruitment segment and a company introduction totaling 3 minutes 53 seconds. Project details can be found in the article. Where are the three versions different?
The audience is different, so the parts that are retained are also different. The table below is taken from how Right Media divided the film Far Eastern Polytex:

| Version | Viewers | Keep | Leave | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full | Leadership, strategic partners, internal communications | Corporations and companies in Vietnam, production chain, social responsibility, employee benefits, employee testimonials. | Leave nothing behind. | 8 minutes 08 seconds |
| Introducing the business | Customers, importers, trade fairs | Company history, production chain from plastic pellets to fabric, environmental events, reception office. | Benefits, training, employee testimonials | 3 minutes 53 seconds |
| Recruitment | Candidates include workers, engineers, and students. | Work environment, dormitories, shuttle service, benefits, training, four employees' own stories, the invitation "Welcome to FENC Polytex" | Corporate financial data, detailed product portfolio. | 2–4 minutes |

Another way to categorize them is by language. Top Royal Flash receives a Vietnamese version, an English version with separate commentary for international clients, and a separate introductory video for the Lai Vung plant. Hoang Kim Precision has three versions—Vietnamese, English, and Japanese—to send the correct version to each group of partners. CJ Foods Vietnam receives the full 8-minute version for partner meetings and a shortened 5-minute version for those who need a quick preview.
What should a recruitment video for a garment factory include?
A job advertisement video for a garment factory needs to specifically answer what applicants will receive, using real footage and the words of the workers and engineers currently employed there. The second half of the film *Far Eastern Polytex* shifts from "what we produce" to "what it's like working here," with each policy clearly stated:
The film, set in the Top Royal Flash export garment factory, features scenes of sewing lines, meal breaks, and interviews with workers. View project details.
- Accommodation and transportation: Free dormitory accommodation, shuttle service.
- Income and benefits: Full social insurance coverage, year-end bonus, employee referral bonus, foreign language allowance.
- Meal: Mid-shift meal allowance, overtime pay.
- Train: Office skills training, healthcare for female workers, monthly training sessions, and online learning on the corporation's system.
- Path of development: Collaboration with the Polytechnic University, Thu Dau Mot University, and Can Tho University; internships for third- and fourth-year students; and study abroad trips to Taiwan for outstanding individuals.
The most believable part is that four employees gave their own testimonials: a process engineer with over 4 years of experience, an office worker with 6 years, a plastic resin factory worker with 7 years of experience who received 6 months of training in Taiwan, and an employee with over 3 years of experience. The speakers were the candidates' future colleagues, not mere commentary.
Tanaka Precision Vietnam, an automotive and motorcycle parts factory in Hung Yen, uses a similar approach for its short recruitment materials: omitting the machining process section, retaining the company introduction, and dedicating time to advanced skills training and a company-funded internship program in Japan. Employee training sessions are filmed live at the factory.

What copy is given to the customer and what does the importer keep?
The version given to the customer adheres strictly to the points the purchasing department will check: production chain, quality control, certifications, capacity, and typical customers. Everything about employee benefits is omitted, as the importer doesn't need to know how many floors the dormitory has.

For example, from the garment industry: the Top Royal Flash film shows automated fabric spreading and cutting, programmable machines, overhead conveyors, automatic thread suction, embroidery machines, logo printing machines, and laser cutting machines. The quality control section includes fabric inspection machines, color matching using inspection lights, in-line QC, end-of-line QC, and double-sided needle detectors. Finally, there are BSCI, GRS, and OCS certifications, along with reviews from international clients like Costco. The English version uses the same script with English narration, concluding with the phrase "Lead today, value tomorrow." See article. Top Royal Flash, a corporate film about a garment factory..
With ABC Bakery, the English version focuses on "production capacity," exactly what the company wants to emphasize to its foreign partners, while the Vietnamese version tells more about the brand philosophy.

What preparations are needed from the day of filming to get three versions?
These three versions can only be cut if they were included in the script before filming. If the recruitment version is only considered after filming is complete, the dormitory scenes and staff lines will be missing. Here is a list of tasks Right Media performs in the pre-production phase:
- Three viewers and three messages Right from the first consultation, each version has its own concluding sentence.
- The storyboard is marked according to the following: Which scenes are used for all three, which are solely for recruitment (kitchen, shuttle bus, training room), and which are solely for customers (QC room, shipping warehouse, certificates)?
- Interview list: The leader talks about capabilities and vision; 3–4 employees in different positions and with varying levels of seniority talk about the work. The interview is set up in the office, away from the noise of computers.
- Commentary written specifically for each version. and each language; the recruitment version uses the pronoun "you," while the client version uses data.
- Filming schedule extended by half a day. For living quarters: dormitories, cafeteria, shuttle service after work hours, training classes.
- Post-production involves creating the full version first. Once the first two versions are approved, they are cut out so that all three can be revised at once.
The film Far Eastern Polytex was shot at both the factory in Binh Duong and the office in District 7, with company representatives accompanying the crew and reviewing the scenes on-site. Behind the scenes of a filming session at Far Eastern Polytex..

Frequently Asked Questions
Will cutting out more job postings incur additional costs?
The cost isn't much compared to shooting from scratch, since the footage is already available. The additional cost includes half a day of filming the living quarters and interviewing staff, along with editing and separate commentary. Right Media's price list clearly details each version so that businesses can make informed decisions from the outset.
How long should a recruitment video for a garment factory be?
Two to four minutes for website posts and university submissions; under 60 seconds for social media. The employee's personal account should take up at least one-third of the time, as this is the part applicants trust the most.
Do staff members who appear on screen need actors or a script?
No. The staff answered questions honestly about their work; the crew chose the most natural parts during editing. The four Far Eastern Polytex staff members and Ms. Ngoc from Top Royal Flash all spoke in their own words.
Does the English version need to be redone?
No. The English version uses the same images, only rewriting the commentary and subtitles, and may shift the focus like ABC Bakery. Interviews with foreign staff should be pre-recorded in English if possible.
Is it possible to create a recruitment poster from the factory footage that was filmed last year?
It's possible, if all the source footage is available. Right Media delivers the source footage to clients after each project, as with CJ Foods and Kimchi Bibigo; if daily life scenes or interviews are missing, they are supplemented with a short filming session.
FDI garment businesses preparing for SIUF or the year-end recruitment season should contact Right Media to develop three versions of the script right from the first filming session.
