Testimonial video for the finishing materials industry: FORTADECK x Right Media

FORTADECK FORTADECK is a finishing materials brand of FM Trading, specializing in MPC mineral composite flooring and cladding panels. The filming took place outdoors in the scorching sun, lasting from morning to afternoon. In this testimonial video for the finishing materials industry, a FORTADECK representative shared their thoughts immediately after the workday ended.

What did the FORTADECK representative say?

"Today, the team at Right Media was incredibly energetic and enthusiastic. It was very hot, but they didn't delay a single minute, working from morning until noon and into the afternoon. Given the heat, they did a great job, and I'm very happy about that. It was a great day meeting them, and I hope my video will be a success."

All the comments revolved around one thing: the weather conditions and how the crew worked under those conditions.

Why does this product require outdoor filming?

This is a point that few people notice when looking at the comment above, but it dictates how the entire filming session will be conducted.

When doing film for building materials factoryThe filming location must be in the exact place where the product is used.

Mineral composite flooring and cladding panels are materials used for exterior: balcony floors, corridors, facades, fences, gardens. Its selling value lies in its ability to withstand sun and rain, resist UV rays without fading, be non-slip when wet, and not warp with temperature changes.

Those characteristics couldn't be captured in a studio. To convince the viewer, the shots had to show the materials placed exactly where they would be used, under real sunlight. That's why the filming had to take place outdoors, and why the crew had to work all day in the sun.

Intense sunlight is a technical challenge, not just a matter of hard work.

In a testimonial video for the finishing materials industry, hot weather sounds like a physical challenge to the viewer. For the image creator, it's three technical problems at once.

  • The light changes constantly throughout the day. The same filming location, shot at 9 AM and 3 PM, will produce two different color tones. Without proper control, the scenes will not match in color during editing.
  • The sun at its zenith casts harsh shadows. The wood grain pattern of the MPC panel is what needs to be clearly visible, but midday sun obscures detail in the bright areas and darkens the dark areas. A diffuser or careful placement of the product is necessary to preserve the surface grain.
  • The device is heating up. Cameras left in direct sunlight for many hours are at risk of overheating and shutting down, so they need to be shielded and rotated regularly.

The "not a minute's delay" mentioned by the FORTADECK representative is therefore not simply about being diligent. It means maintaining the schedule under conditions where every passing hour changes the lighting of the scene.
